If you decide to invest in precious metals, then you must learn about all the options you have in gold or silver investments because not all gold and silver investments are created equal or even perform equally. ;
Some of the options we have today in the investment of gold and silver include direct ownership of the precious metal, via gold coins or silver coins, indirect ownership through certificates, shares and derivatives, etc. When you invest in gold and silver in the form of shares and derivatives it becomes more or less like investing in the stock market, i.e., paper. This form of investment is the least profitable, which is commonly referred to as commodity trading. Also, with the decline of the US Dollar, anything paper is risky.

However, many people opt for the traditional way of saving by investing in gold and silver bars or bullion coins. You can get these bars in various sizes and weight depending on your investment capacity, but they are only worth the then-price of gold and silver which changes daily. Alternatively, you can opt to invest in history by way of rare gold and silver coins. They are easy to acquire through a reputable / discount dealer and the investment value has far greater growth potential. The reason is they not only have the value based on the weight in gold, or silver, but they also maintain a "rarity" value, which will increase substantially as the price of gold rises. The difference? Bars or bullion will only have the weight value, whereas rare coins have rarity and weight value which drives their values through the roof when it comes time to cash in on your investment.

Before you invest your money in gold coins you must learn how the different types of gold coins have historically held their value through times of uncertainty. There are several types available in the market and their values depend on how many were minted and how many remain. It's that simple. The more rare the coin, the more value you will get out of it and the faster it will grow. It's not just the weight in gold to consider.

When you invest in gold coins you must shop around in order to find the right dealer that will sell them to you at the right price. Don't just go with the first broker that comes along which may have no experience. The dealer should be knowledgeable on this historical values so you can be educated on which coins will grow the fastest, rather than shooting from the hip on products that will never be more valuable than the price of gold on any given day. Sometimes you can find gold coins at a cheap price that seems too good to be true - but they are inferior in quality and will not provide the same profit as a higher quality coin graded by either one of the only two "recognized" grading companies in the industry, i.e. PCGS and NGC (and don't be fooled by "similar" initials, such as NCI, which is the purpose of using these initials as they are inferior companies and not recognized by the industry). So to avoid such risks, invest your time before you invest any money. Get quotes so you can identify an experienced dealer. Don't just talk with one out of forty brokers trying to sell a coin that may not have more than six months experience. Talk to experts who know how gold coins have performed in the past and which ones will outperform the others in the future. Search for discount coin dealers, discount gold dealers, discount precious metals dealers, etc., online.

Different dealers sell the same coin at different prices depending on the profit margin called "investment spreads" i.e. their profit. So if you are not careful you will end up paying substantially more than you have to. Make sure to check the prices with as many dealers as possible to get the best deal for the highest quality coins. You will be surprised to learn that many gold coin dealers mark up the price from 28% and 45%. Don't throw your money away. Instead, find a discount coin dealer and get more for what you pay for by searching for Superior Discount Coins.

Investing in gold coins is the easiest and best form of gold investing today. However, make your gold and silver investments more profitable by finding the right price through a discount coin dealer that provides high quality coins at discounted prices. The privacy, security and protection with rare investment-grade gold and silver coins, plus the return on your investment when it's time to liquidate, will make you smile.
